Dr. Valerie Smith has been practicing periodontics since 2000. Originally from Philadelphia, she earned her BA in Psychology from Temple University. She then relocated to Boston to attend Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine earning her DMD degree in 1997. From there she attended the Medical College of Virginia where she earned her Certificate in Periodontics in 2000.

In 2001, Dr. Smith started her own periodontal practice in Northern Virginia outside Washington DC. After practicing there for 8 years, she decided to move back to Boston. It was a great move and she now resides in downtown Boston. Dr. Smith is active in several dental societies, including the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, and the Massachusetts Dental Society.
