Cataracts
Report
Gradual changes in vision can often go unnoticed if you do not have regular eye exams. If you are age 60 or older, your vision may be suffering from cataracts. However, you may be compensating for these vision changes or simply think that you have to live with inferior vision as you grow older. This could not be farther from the truth.
Cornea Center
Report
Your cornea is the thin outer layer of your eye that protects the eye from foreign debris. The shape of the cornea is also responsible for how well you can see clearly; the shape determines how light entering your eyes will focus in front of, behind or directly on the retina (the back of the eye). Epithelium (outer layer): eye protection and surface to absorb nutrients and oxygen from tears.
Glaucoma
Report
Glaucoma is actually a group of diseases that damage the optic nerve. The optic nerve is responsible for connecting the back of the eye (retina) to the brain. Glaucoma is usually caused by an increase in the fluid pressure in the eye - either because of the overproduction of fluid or when the drainage system of the eye becomes blocked.
Retina Diseases
Report
Your retina is located at the back of your eye. Although it is a thin, light-sensitive tissue, it packs a punch: it is responsible for controlling how you see images. In an ideal eye, images focus on the retina and those images are converted into electrical impulses that are transmitted through the optic nerve to the brain.
Dry Eye
Report
Oddly enough, if you are prone to excessive eye watering or tearing, you might actually have a condition called Dry Eye. Dry Eye occurs when the eyes do not produce sufficient tears or the tears evaporate too quickly. Evaporative Dry Eye, accounting for 86% of all dry eye: caused by blockage to the eyelid glands (meibomian glands) which leads to a shortage of oil on the surface of the tears and quicker-than-normal tear evaporation.
