AAGL is the leading association promoting minimally invasive gynecologic surgery among surgeons worldwide. In 1971, Dr. Jordan M. Phillips and ten charter members founded the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. An early adopter of the laparoscopic surgical technique, Dr. Phillips was a visionary who imagined an infinite future for gynecologic surgery.

AAGL's Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (FMIGS) was developed to address the concern that most graduating residents in obstetrics and gynecology were not fully trained in modern endoscopic surgery. The Fellowship offers two and three year comprehensive training program in advanced gynecologic endoscopy to graduating gynecologic residents who are interested in a focus in minimally invasive surgery.

The Foundation of the AAGL provides opportunities for education, research, technology and global outreach with the ultimate goal of improving women's health. We seek to provide the resources to support the Foundation of the AAGL's mission to fund teaching, research, global outreach, mentorship and other initiatives that improve the health of women worldwide.
