Shadow Glen Riding Stables has been serving the Sacramento area for over 45 years. We are nestled in a corner of Mississippi Bar, connected to approximately 10,000 acres of designated California State Park horse trails. Once here, you can feel the "Old West" and know you are in for a great time. Our location has gold mining history.
Shadow Glen offers a variety of activities including trail rides, private riding lessons, horse boarding, summer camps for kids, group lessons and other "hands-on" horse adventures. We also offer special events - so keep an eye on our website and sign-up for our newsletter. All our guides are certified Wranglers and Instructors who are CPR and First Aid certified.

Terry is the owner/operator of Shadow Glen Riding Stables and has been in the equine industry for 45 years. He comes from a family of horse professionals beginning with his Latvian-born grandfather John Nordt, and extending through his Grandpa Joe and Grandma Sally Alexander. He also owns a ranch in Quincy, CA which provides riding, camping and ranch experiences for children and families.

We are an ideal horse barn if you are looking for a great, laid-back place to trail ride and make new friends. We have very active, fun boarders and it is always easy to find someone looking to go for a ride. We like to play together too and have BBQs and play-days planned for the coming months. We specialize in helping new horse owners get going safely.

Shadow Glen Riding Stables is pleased to offer scenic one-hour and two-hour western trail rides along the American River at Lake Natoma. All horseback rides are fully guided by certified wranglers knowledgeable of the area you'll be riding through. Some of the wildlife you may encounter include Mule Deer, North American Coyote, Black-Tail Jackrabbit, Western Gray, and Douglas Squirrel, Turkey Vultures, and Red-tailed Hawk.
