He was in the hospital for three months and then came home to live with his mother, along with the care of Hospice Care Options. She was predeceased by her husband, William B. Since that time numerous families have been served at this facility by its dedicated staff. The new location features a 300-seat chapel, spacious visitation rooms, and expanded parking facilities. At that time, he and his son Warren Southerland Jr. formed a partnership. Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home continued to operate under the same name and to this day, the tradition remains intact.
