For more than 40 years, the California Academy of Performing Arts (CAPA), has trained thousands of dancers in the art of dance and performing. The students who make performing their profession have performed with many of the top professional dance companies in the US and abroad, as well as on the Broadway stage and on television and commercials.
Many have excelled in music and theater as well. Our students gain admission to the top universities and colleges in the country. The life skills that all our students learn at CAPA - commitment, dedication, teamwork, an incredible work ethic and time management - will be with them their whole lives, and the friendships they form with their dance mates last decades after they have graduated.

About
Report
CAPA was founded in 1981 by Joan Robinson and Ronn Guidi, then Artistic Director of the Oakland Ballet Company. They wanted to create a place in the beautiful Moraga Valley where the "children of the suburbs" could have access to the finest professional training.
Joan and Ronn realized their dream, and though Ronn soon found the demands of the Oakland Company too demanding to do both, he was confident that Joan would continue the integrity of their joint plan.

Schedule
Report
We are planning to return to our normal in-studio schedule for the 2021 -2022 School Year, subject to state and county regulations. Sign up early for your preferred classes - we are strictly limiting class sizes. Please note that we have very few Monday holidays in order to have an equal number of classes for all days of the week.
Tuition
Report
For Fall/Winter/Spring, CAPA divides the annual tuition for our 36 weeks of classes during the school year into ten equal monthly payments, which we bill to your account on or about the 15th of every month (August through May) to the credit card on file. Some months have more classes than others, but regardless of the month, you only pay for 36 weeks of actual classes in ten equal monthly installments.
