Wildlife Rehabilitation & Education Center
Founded in 1984 by Nanci Limbach, the Pauline S. Schneegas Wildlife Foundation provides professional care for injured and orphaned wildlife while promoting environmental education. Our team of certified veterinary technicians and licensed rehabilitators operates under strict state and federal licensing, specializing in the care of all wildlife species except bats and skunks. We maintain partnerships with Colorado Parks and Wildlife and US Fish and Wildlife Service while operating independently of government funding. Our facility in Silt, Colorado includes specialized rehabilitation enclosures and educational programming spaces. With over 40 years of continuous service, we serve five Western Colorado counties and maintain a satellite facility at Arrowhead Veterinary Hospital in Fruita.

Our board-certified veterinary staff provides 24/7 medical care and rehabilitation services, complemented by educational outreach programs for schools and community groups. We maintain rigorous professional standards through our IRS 501c3 nonprofit certification and comprehensive licensing for federally protected species. Our volunteer-driven model prioritizes direct animal care while maintaining transparent communication protocols for public inquiries. Through strategic partnerships and community engagement, we continue expanding our capacity to serve Colorado's wildlife population.

So far we have called this company twice for two different birds one died because they never got back to our email or phone calls now we have another bird that needs help and no response from them. I guess they don't mind birds dieing. Rather than help them

Wonderful organization that is really one of the only choices for rehab for injured animals. It relies on 90% private donation and grants to keep its doors open. The people truly care about these creatures and helping live the best life they can.

These guys are amazing! They work so hard to take care of all the wild animals in their care. We had to bring a baby bunny to them today, and they were kind enough to give us a tour while we were there. Can't thank them enough for everything they do.

The PSS Wildlife Foundation provides a valuable service to the wildlife and people of our region. When an injured wild animal is found, people want to help. PSSWF offers the medical care and rehabilitation these animals need and is unavailable anywhere else on the Western Slope. Thank you for all you do.
