Lincoln Midwest Ballet
The Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company is dedicated to promoting excellence in the art of ballet through performances, education and community outreach. Find out more. Thank you to Toni Montanez for being a positive force for change in our community. Toni donates her time and talents serving on both the LMBC Board of Directors and as an Executive Officer for the LMBC Guild.

Her volunteer hours enabled us to receive two $500 Allstate Foundation Helping Hands Grants. The 2020 Nutcracker performance is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Pace Woods Foundation. We are grateful for their generous support. As a local nonprofit, the Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company has been creating magic on the stage since 1992.

The mission of the Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company is to promote excellence in the art of ballet through performances, education and community outreach. The Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company (LMBC), a non-profit organization, was founded in 1989 with the merger of The Lincoln City Ballet, formed in 1979, and the Ballet Midwest Dance Company, formed in 1985.
Artistic Director & Staff

Shari True founded Ballet Midwest in 1985 which then merged with Lincoln City Ballet in 1992. The new company was renamed Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company (LMBC) and True stayed on as artistic director. Offering high quality artistic and educational opportunities for young dancers is her passion. Under her direction, the Company has provided educational outreach programs such as the annual LMBC Summer Camp and Backstage at the Ballet.

Lincoln Midwest Ballet Guild was formed in 1991 to help support dance in the community, and especially the activities of Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company. Providing educational outreach programs such as Backstage at the Ballet, a project that takes Company artistic staff and dancers into one elementary school each year for a 3-day residency program.
Employment

Professional guest artists are hired annually for The Nutcracker and for a spring ballet production in alternate years. The Nutcracker is performed in an excellent performance space, the Lied Center for Performing Arts in Lincoln, Nebraska. Professionals are also hired for an annual summer dance intensive.

Volunteers are a very important part of the Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company's productions and events. There are many opportunities to volunteer at productions, fundraising events and through the activities of the Lincoln Midwest Ballet Guild. This is where you will sign up to do volunteer work.
