Services
Issue 1 - Getting Ready
Report
Training/Socializing - Look for a training center that you can attend for the entirety of the dog's life. One that can grow with you. Typically they offer beginning and advanced classes in agility, competition obedience, rally, etc. Even my dogs continue to attend classes for training and of course socialization.
Issue 2 - Vaccinations
Report
Your puppy will need their next round of shots at 12 wks, 16 wks, and 20wks.for a total of 4 DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parvo, para-influenza) shots. By giving shots every 4 wks you limit the window of susceptibility. The rabies vaccine is usually given at the age of 4 months (16wks). But please stagger this from the other shots and do not give at the same time.
Issue 3 - Feeding
Report
The puppies are all eating 3 times per day right now. It is advisable to still keep the puppy on at least 3 meals a day and he/she will let you know by not eating well at one of those meals when it is time to only eat 2 times a day. I always let the kibble set in water to become completed hydrated before mixing with the other ingredients and feeding.
Issue 4 - Housebreaking
Report
If you feed your puppy at about the same time every day and let him out to do his business right afterward, after every nap, first thing in the morning when he wakes up (you have to be fast then) and last thing at night, he will very quickly know what is expected of him and he will be housetrained in no time.
Issue 5 - Coat & Body Care
Report
Leonberger Coats are "wash and wear". It is a good idea to brush him at least once a week - it will be quality time for you and him and he will get used to being messed with. Trouble spots that mat easily is the feathers behind the ears, the pants, and tail. Keeping up with these areas is a whole lot easier than dealing with huge mats!
