About
Report
Half of my practice has been helping couples for most of my practice life. My specialty in working with couples includes helping with concerns related to parenting and your relationships with your children. I work with families to strengthen the bonds between children and parents, to strengthen the parenting alliance, to help the family build flexibility and responsiveness to its changing needs over time.
Fee & Payment Options
Report
I do not have a sliding scale, but I regularly make exceptions to my fee in certain circumstances. Mostly these circumstances relate to when I may be able to lower my fee for sessions scheduled in a time that is not in high demand. I will often lower my fee for a student or adolescent who doesn't have adult help or resources and needs my therapeutic help.
Individual Therapy
Report
In individual therapy the relationship we develop becomes a context in which you can think and feel about your relationship to yourself and to others. I bring a practice life of commitment, creativity, genuine engagement, and also the flaws of my own humanity.

I think with you about your experience from a psychodynamic, contemporary, relational psychoanalytic frame of reference, but I have been strongly influenced by the experiential, somatic, expressive and narrative therapies and take an active approach, doing whatever is practical, to help you connect with your deepest and most true self.
Family Therapy
Report
The children we care for and protect. The children we try to guide. The children we struggle to let go. The children whose temperaments can be hard for us. The children in their own lives who need us, and don't need us, in ways that can be hard for us to understand. The children who marry. The children who have their own children.
EFT Supervision
Report
From 1985-1988 I served as both Clinical & Executive Director of Yolo Family Service Agency. I won a grant to build a consultation room connected by a one-way mirror to a room for therapists to watch, learn, and after sessions discuss our work with couples and families.

This experience not only showed me the enormous learning value of therapists studying together their therapeutic efforts, but also, the profound necessity of safety for learning therapists. From there, once full time in private practice in 1988, I was eager to work in co-therapist pairs to continue to benefit from learning from colleagues and to have my work critiqued by my co-therapist colleagues.
