Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Jon graduated from Centre College in 1997 with a B.A. in History. He first visited Nicaragua in 1998, returned every year thereafter, and married his wife from there in 2002. That same year, Jon obtained his Masters of Social Work with a concentration in Community Partnerships from Georgia State University.
