In 2002, our friendship began over a shared passion for cafe culture and the craftsmanship behind coffee roasting and baking. Sacramento is surrounded by farms and abundant agriculture, so we saw the perfect opportunity to source and pair fresh food for wholesale partners. In 2006, we purchased and completely renovated a storage warehouse in Midtown Sacramento.
The two of us, with the support of our families, began selling wholesale coffee and bakery products featuring regionally produced food. We worked long days and nights in an obscure alley, chasing our shared dream of becoming a hub for farm-fresh dishes. As people walked by and caught a whiff of the aroma, they began requesting coffee and pastries for retail sale.

The Alley
Report
Our original location in the heart of Midtown is still at the heart of everything we do. A former storage warehouse for the Eppie's Restaurant chains, we completely renovated the brick and wood beam building in 2006. At a little over 2,400 square feet, the alley warehouse holds not only our baking and roasting operations but also our first retail caf.
Weatherstone
Report
After taking the location over from Java City in 2008, we performed a 72 hour remodel and opened our doors. Featuring numerous custom tables and shelves crafted out of reclaimed wood by local furniture, wood, and iron artisans along with one of Sacramento's best outdoor patios, Old Soul at The Weatherstone is a community treasure and a place we are proud to call home.
40 Acres in Oak Park
Report
Housed in the ground floor of the old Woodruff hotel, our Old Soul @ 40 Acres location was opened in early 2010 after we renovated a previously closed Starbucks outlet on the same site. Today, our cafe sits at a thriving corner in the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento within easy walking distance to bookstores, theatres, parks, boutiques, Sacramento Charter High School and the Pacific University McGeorge School of Law.

Report
Opened in spring of 2017 on Sacramento and California's Public Green, our newest location combines custom community tables made by our same artisan furniture makers from past cafes, two outdoor patios, an island espresso bar layout and wraparound windows that look out onto Capitol Mall.
