The purpose of Redwoods Rural Health Center is to provide responsive, preventive, high quality primary health care services, through a variety of healing disciplines, to all people without regard to social or economic status. We emphasize the client's right and responsibility to participate in his or her own health care decisions.
It is our hope that the clinic be a place where the needs of the whole person are met--body, mind, and spirit. This health center receives HHS funding and has Federal PHS deemed status with respect to certain health or health-related claims, including medical malpractice claims, for itself and its covered individuals.

In the early 1970's a handful of friends & neighbors living in the hills of Southern Humboldt started talking to each other about the need for health care that would work for them. In this founding group were midwives & young parents seeking support for the growing home birth movement.
There were people interested in exploring alternative therapies & people who had received bad or disrespectful treatment at the hands of the doctors they had visited in the cities.Most of these founders were poor; many were on welfare & had experienced discrimination based on their poverty, their apparent counter cultural appearance, or their ethnic or racial status.

Meetings generally on the first Wednesday of the month from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm - bring your lunch. Meeting locations vary but include the Civic Club in Garberville. Humboldt Area Foundation is the community foundation of and for the citizens of the North Coast. Vera's dream has been joined by literally thousands of individuals committed to building a better community.

Walk-in and same day appointments available and new patients are welcome! Did you know that an RRHC provider is available around the clock for urgent questions, minor issues, or medical advice? We do not fill controlled substances or make appointments after hours or on the weekends. You may be advised to call when the clinic is open to schedule the next available appointment, or be directed to go to the ER.

Southern Humboldt once again has its own community pharmacy! Garberville Pharmacy is located at 286 Sprowel Creek Road and open Monday-Friday 9:30am-6:00pm. Offering same-day prescription fills and over-the-counter medication purchases. The licensed Pharmacy team is available to answer questions and give you guidance.
