
As a trail rider or hiker, the park welcomes you to enjoy over 400 acres and 21 miles of beautiful trails! Our trail system has a bit of everything: flat easy areas, creek crossings, step over logs, good hills and more technical trails on the back side. Shelby Trails Park is a part of The Shelby County Parks Foundation, a 501C3.
The County Parks and Foundation ensures the maintenance of the property and trails, as well as provide donation and fundraising opportunities for the Park. Red Fern Riding Center is an independently owned and operated horseback riding center. As stewards of the land, Red Fern Riding Center acts as a concierge to Park in promoting the park and it's public and private services.

Trail Riding Passes

If you are purchasing more than one Permit, you must fill out and pay for them separately; as the waivers act as a liability release and must be E-Signed individually. When you come to ride, please sign in at the kiosk and your Permit will be verified based on the horse and rider information you provided us.

Park riding and hiking hours are from sunrise to sunset. The park will remain open during the winter months while the trails are still safe, and the conditions are not muddy or slippery. Park closures will be posted on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/shelbytrailspark. Please like our page! No private individual is entitled to use the park for their own personal capital gain (Charging others for trail riding or lessons on park property).

As stewards of the park, our mission is to promote a multi-discipline, multi-breed, equestrian facility with an emphasis on community outreach, equine education, and promotion to the novice rider. Red Fern Riding Center is a fully operational horseback riding and educationally based outreach facility.

What better place to board your horse than at Red Fern Riding Center located at Shelby Trails Park? With direct access to over 25 trails and 462 acres of park lands - this is an equestrian's paradise. The boarding facility was built of solid wood construction with large 12 x 12 stalls. Our indoor arena is 70 x 162 with soft river sand footing.
