The physicians at SPP created a practice to provide a high level of mental health services to the south Atlanta area. It was quickly evident that there is a lack of comprehensive providers serving our community and SPP was formed to provide evidence-based Psychiatric care.
Given our desire to be completely client-centered, SPP will not take insurance at this time, to allow us to focus solely on the best course of treatment, without the restrictions that insurance companies often place on providers.This allows us to spend more time with clients during the assessment phase and throughout the course of treatment rather than trying to see as many clients as possible in brief appointments.

Shane Savage, M.D. is triple-board certified in General Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Forensic Psychiatry. He completed a Bachelors Degree in Biology at Clayton College and State University. Following undergraduate studies, Dr. Savage worked at Emory University in Nephrology research for nearly three years.

Southern Psychiatric Professionals does not contract with any insurance companies at this time. However, if your insurance policy provides out-of-network benefits we can provide a superbill which clients may file their own claims for reimbursement. Southern Psychiatric Professionals cannot guarantee that your insurance will reimburse you for any charges.

While the majority of clients with depression respond to psychotherapy and antidepressant medications, TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is a newer procedure used for refractory cases. In these instances, TMS can be considered as an alternative treatment, or to augment other modalities of treatment.

SPP now offers TOVA (Test of Variables of Attention) for diagnostic assessment for Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder. Testing is available for adults and children. Dr. Savage and McQuirt attending MCG's annual conference for faculty. They were happy to see Dr. Saxena who was nominated for excellence in medical student education!
