Performers Theatre Workshop (PTW) has been nurturing young talent in the performing arts for over four decades. Founded in 1981 by Juilliard graduates Esther and Howard Kravitz, our institution combines rigorous training with a supportive, non-competitive environment to help students thrive. Dance Classes
Our dance program offers instruction in multiple styles including ballet, jazz, tap, and contemporary. Expert instructors with Broadway and professional backgrounds provide technical training while fostering creativity. Students perform in seasonal showcases and NYC cabaret venues, building confidence and stage presence through regular performance opportunities.
Acting Workshops
Acting classes focus on scene study, monologue work, and character development using industry-standard techniques. Students participate in biannual productions and receive audition coaching for school and professional opportunities. The curriculum emphasizes emotional connection, vocal projection, and stagecraft fundamentals in a supportive environment.
Private Music Lessons
One-on-one instruction available for voice, piano, and guitar with conservatory-trained educators. Lessons emphasize technical proficiency, music theory, and performance readiness. Students showcase progress in recitals and cabaret performances, receiving personalized feedback to accelerate skill development.
Summer Theater Programs
Intensive summer productions allow students to rehearse and perform full musicals under professional direction. Programs include daily rehearsals, masterclasses with industry experts, and final performances at NYC venues. Professional Track
Advanced training program connecting students with casting directors, agents, and industry professionals. Includes mock auditions, resume/portfolio development, and personalized coaching for commercial, TV, and Broadway opportunities. Dean Kravitz
Executive Artistic Director
Dean Kravitz holds a BA in Music from Yale and a Masters in Education. He studied at Eastman School of Music and Westminster Choir College, bringing decades of educational and performing arts expertise to PTW.
Esther Kravitz
Co-Founder
Esther Kravitz, a Juilliard graduate, co-founded PTW in 1981. With extensive performing experience, she established the school's foundation in professional arts training for young artists.
Howard Kravitz
Co-Founder
Howard Kravitz, also a Juilliard graduate, co-founded PTW to provide comprehensive performing arts education. His career as a performer and educator shaped the school's early development and artistic standards.

At this point basically just expensive day care. Despite prices that you might expect from an elite prep school all you are getting is babysitting and "fun" for your kids. The owners are very pushy. Always trying to get you to sign up for more. Ultimately my kid had made more connections through one summer at Papermill than she ever did here. Not to mention their pathetic go fund me they posted to raise money for a new location. When you are charging people tens of thousands of dollars for classes you don't expect to have a school put up a go fund me... https://www.gofundme.com/f

I cannot say enough good things PTW! Not only have my children found a place to do what they love, but they are learning so much and in such a nurturing environment. The staff is outstanding -- they are extraordinarily well-qualified, knowledgeable, approachable and have made our entire experience an A+. We have taken classes at a lot of schools in the area, but have not found anything that meets this level of professionalism and fun! I'm so happy my kids found a home at PTW.

PTW has become a second home for our daughter! Its truly a blessing to see how much she has grown over the years! Her ability to grasp the training from her instructors and make it REAL on stage, is by far the BEST weve experienced!
