Our front entrance is a little tricky - we're located on Bingham Street, a one-way going south (even though the address says Armitage). If you find the Integrative Pet Care brick building, we're located in the back. Since our hands are usually busy with clay, the best way to get in touch is through email.
Penguin Foot Pottery is a ceramics studio in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood offering classes, artist space, and just about everything our pottery hearts can handle. We're sporting three electric kilns, a slab roller, extruder, pug mill, and 37 potter's wheels. We fire at cone 6 (2232°F) with a rotating variety of hand-mixed glazes, slips, and terra-sig at your disposal.

Wheel
Report
For those with little to no experience or anyone looking to brush up on the basics, we offer a 4-week introductory course to throwing clay on the potter's wheel. We'll guide you through the wheel fundamentals of centering, opening, pulling, and shaping. You'll create several pieces from start to finish, learning the basics beyond the wheel including trimming and glazing.
Hand Building
Report
Learn how to make beautiful pots without a pottery wheel! In this class we will spend four weeks exploring the basics of hand building. You will learn how to use coiling, pinching, and slab building to create one of a kind ware. In addition, we will also learn how to make our own slip, molds, templates and more!
Kids
Report
In this hands-on class, students will spend time getting creative, and a little messy working with clay to make mugs, bowls, and more! Returning students will have the opportunity to refine what they already know, and challenge themselves by learning how to create new forms! At the end of every class, students will have time to let loose and get creative with small hand building games!
Holiday Workshops
Report
Join us to make a holiday wreath out of clay, so it can be ever green! In this workshop kids will use slabs and cut out their own wreaths to decorate, and they'll get to make a mini wreath to use as a tree ornament. We will use colorful slips to spruce them up, and add holes so you can hang them on the wall for many holidays to come!
Schedule Appointment
Report
If you are enrolled in a class this session, you can schedule open studio time outside of your class. Please be aware that open studio time is limited so you may not get the time/day you'd like. Open studio time is included in your class but NOT guaranteed since we are working at limited capacity. For glazing appointments, we made a quick Video Tutorial to give you a rundown of how it will go.
