WELCOME TO BLUEGRASS KENNELS, home to the MINIATURE AMERICAN SHEPHERDS, newly recognized by the AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB. Miniature Australian Shepherds is our former name, prior to AKC recognition.
Here on our Black Hills ranch in South Dakota we strive to raise healthy, beautiful examples of this marvelous breed and have been doing so for 27 years. The MINIATURE AMERICAN SHEPHERD CLUB OF THE USA or "MASCUSA" was selected in May of 2011 as the parent club of the MINIATURE AMERICAN SHEPHERD for the American Kennel Club. The breed was formed by a split of the Australian Shepherd breed in AKC and dogs previously known as Miniature Australian Shepherds and/or North American Shepherds.

This stunningly handsome MINIATURE AMERICAN SHEPHERD boy is nick-named QUEST and he was born right here at Bluegrass Kennels. We could not have asked for a finer result from 20 years of careful and selective breeding. Quest is not only striking to look at but has a friendly, affectionate, and sometimes goofy demeanor.

Occasionally a puppy is so nice a breeder hates to part with him or her and wouldn't it be great if that puppy could have its own family but still have the opportunity to contribute to our breeding program? Also, sometimes we share in the purchase of a dog for the same reasons. Pictured here are dogs who are owned in partnership with us at Bluegrass Kennels.

Ginny's and Durango's son GALLAWAY has earned his first title with North American Diving Dogs. GALLAWAY also does obedience and sheep herding. Congratulations to GALLAWAY! Earning at our National Specialty Show the title first place in the MOST VERSATILE competition pretty much describes not only a nice, correct, and good looking dog, but a dog who has achieved the highest scores in all types of a variety of events.
