One of the most productive fishing grounds were the waters of the New World, particularly around Newfoundland. The early British fishing fleets in the 1500's, 1600's and 1700's would embark for the fishing grounds in the Spring, fish all summer and dry the catch on the beaches, and then sail loaded back to England in the fall.
British Labradors

Working Labradors in England are heavily influenced by the relatively small population of Labradors that are actively bred and trained for competition in retriever field trials. The defining characteristics of this field trial population are not looks or appearance but rather temperament, behavior and trainability.

At Duckhill Kennels we conduct a selective breeding program aimed at producing puppies that will become excellent gundogs and excellent family dogs. Further, we strive to breed dogs that the average novice trainer can train with gentle training methods. Robert Milner personally selects and trains all our prospective breeding stock to insure that they have the behavioral traits needed to attain our breeding program goals.
Canoe Dogs

The canoe labs are small in size, but still bred for all the qualities you expect in a British Labrador: Calm nature, trainability, natural delivery to hand and game-finding initiative. Our sires for canoe size labs are Tudorcourt Twig's Shadow, Tibea Duckflight and Duckhill Sailors Return. Duckflight and Sailor are also Legacy Labs.
