Chuck is a lifelong cruiser and racer who was fortunate enough to turn his passion into a career. A former business major and CPA from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, Chuck started his sailmaking business in 2002, after working for a local sailmaker for a several years learning the trade.
He has 25 years of experience building and repairing sails, but his best skill is listening to clients needs and working with them to create solutions that make their sailing safer and more enjoyable.Chuck has been on the water since the age of 4 and actively cruised and raced with his family growing up and continued a successful racing career with his wife and their crew on his boats over the years.

In September of 2016 Chesapeake Sailmakers became the very first Elvstrom Sails Sail Point in North America. Our new affiliation has created Elvstrom Sails Mid-Atlantic. The Elvstrom name is legendary around the world. They have been building sails for over 65 years in Europe and are the second largest sailmaker in the world.

Since 2003, Chesapeake Sailmakers has been a full service sail loft, repairing and building new sails in our loft in Annapolis. Over the years we realized that to serve clients better we needed to make some changes. Moving forward our Annapolis loft is primarily focused on sail repairs and canvas work, with limited new sail construction.

Sails withstand a lot of abuse. Whether from flogging, constant chafing or just dealing with the harsh marine environment, sails need constant attention. The good news is many of the repairs we perform daily are routine and relatively inexpensive. Fixing torn seams, chafed UV covers, damage from spreaders, rewebbing slides and restitching corner webbings, are all minor repairs we address very economically.
