Established in 1981, we are a non-profit, community owned, incorporated organization operating a primary care program in Engelhard. Our expert medical staff, outstanding administration personnel, and volunteer Board of Directors work hard providing care to all persons in need.

Engelhard Medical Center and Ocracoke Health Center are primary care providers for the residents and guests of Hyde County and surrounding areas. With locations in Engelhard and Ocracoke, our mission is to provide quality, accessible, affordable community-based medical care with respect and dignity to all individuals in a culturally sensitive manner.
Behavioral Health

Behavioral health services are available at both sites through contracted services via face-to-face visit, as well as telemedicine to further meet the needs of our patients and communities. Our locations partner with Vidant Behavioral Health and Trillium Health Resources to provide services for mental illness, substance abuse, and developmental disabilities.
MVP Program
Report
We are committed to providing medical care to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay. All patients have the opportunity to apply for our MVP program, a federally supported sliding fee scale program based on income and family size only. Our locations offer this program to assist with on-site services and also referrals for dental and specialty care.

Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) is a team-based health care delivery model that provides comprehensive and continuous medical care with the goal of improving the health of all patients. By giving us your complete medical information, we are able to provide comprehensive care and coordinate your care across different providers and settings.
