Born and raised in Hockessin, Matthew is the youngest child of the late Joseph Genereux and the late Barbara Genereux. He attended Corpus Christi Catholic Grade School and graduated from Alexis I. duPont High School. Matthew attended the University of Delaware and Catonsville Mortuary School, where he earned his degree in Funeral Service Proficiency enabling him to become a licensed funeral director with federal jurisdiction.

The basic Military Funeral Honors (MFH) ceremony consists of the folding and presentation of the United States flag to the veterans' family and the playing of Taps. The ceremony is performed by a funeral honors detail consisting of at least two members of the Armed Forces. The Funeral Honors rendered to you or your veteran will be determined by the status of the veteran.
