City Upholstery is a family owned and operated upholstery shop that has been serving the greater Houston and surrounding areas for more than half a century. We do residential reupholstery for the general public as well as commercial work for many local area businesses. Need repairs done to your furniture? We can We can replace, re-glue and repair broken frames, replace broken springs, and even patch or repair rips in your upholstery.

The McWhorter family established City Upholstery in the 1930's. Mr. McWhorter operated the business out of his detached two-car garage until his death in 1960. That same year Mrs. McWhorter, who no could longer maintain the business, put it up for sale. Having seen the add in the local paper, Ken Waters talked to the family and purchased the business which consisted of one sewing machine, some work tables and a handful of tools.
Refinishing

We offer a number of refinishing option, but they cover a broad range of applications. We can also repair and rebuild as needed as well. Depending on the type of furniture you have, condition and age of the wood, value and or personal preference we can determine which option is right for you. Currently we have downsized our refinishing department, and we are limited to what type of pieces we can work on.
