Our family comes from a farming background and frankly, we were tired of what we perceived as "fast-talking financial advisors". In fact, my mother, Linda, told me of a time when she was sitting down with my dad at an advisor's office and after the advisor made 'his pitch', my mother recalled that she was thinking, "I don't have a clue what he just said!"
