What is one of the first things that you learn when you pick up a stringed instrument? Name the notes on the strings! This is a fun activity that we do to learn musical expression, and appreciation for classical music. The song is Hens and Roosters from Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saens. It's abrupt sounds imitate chickens running, pecking, jumping, and flying. I encourage the children to make our chickens move on the parachute while they listen.

On Saturday we had a lovely recital at a local nursing home. Eleven students played, and each and every student did an amazing job, and the residents were just thrilled to have us! It was so nice to have such an encouraging audience. Enjoy some videos and photos of our special event. Trey played two.
