Empowering Women and Families in Martinez, CA
Since the early 20th century, our organization has dedicated itself to addressing systemic inequities through community-driven initiatives. Founded on principles of racial justice and women's empowerment, we provide comprehensive childcare programs that foster children's social, emotional, and cognitive development while offering working families reliable support. Our mental health services employ evidence-based therapies to help children, adolescents, and families navigate trauma, abuse, and attachment challenges. Through affordable housing initiatives in Sacramento's historic midtown district, we create safe living environments for women while maintaining accessible event spaces for civic engagement. With multilingual staff serving diverse communities across Contra Costa County and Sacramento, we combine decades of experience with culturally responsive programming. Our government-subsidized childcare centers maintain rigorous licensing standards, and our trauma-informed mental health practitioners utilize therapeutic modalities like Theraplay and cognitive behavioral therapy. As part of the national YWCA network, we uphold our 1946 interracial charter commitment to combat systemic racism through education and advocacy programs that challenge social inequities.

Programs include California State Preschool Program (CSPP) for ages 3-5 and school-age care at Hidden Valley Elementary.
Mental Health Services
We provide trauma-informed mental health services for children, adolescents, and families facing abuse, depression, anxiety, and attachment issues. Our therapists use evidence-based approaches including Theraplay, cognitive behavioral therapy, and pet-assisted therapy to rebuild family connections and promote emotional stability through individual and group sessions.
Residential Housing
Our Sacramento facility offers affordable residential housing for women in a historic Mediterranean Revival building. Located near the state Capitol, the housing program provides safe, comfortable living spaces with convenient access to public transit, grocery stores, and community resources supporting women's independence and stability.
Workshops & Support Groups
We organize educational workshops and support groups where women and teenage girls can engage with expert speakers, share experiences, and develop personal growth. These programs focus on empowerment, skill-building, and creating supportive networks through interactive learning sessions and peer discussions.
