The Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) measures the safety fitness of all trucking companies in the Country based on the information obtained at road side inspections. These inspections take place on a random basis in all areas of the country. Trucks are routinely brought into weigh station's and inspected for equipment defects, driver paperwork, and load securement.
