This is what it takes to fly airplanes and the limitations on each type of flying. Further information can be found at the FAA's website. Please note that many people take more than the FAA required minimum training times provided below and that to each pilots certificate requires the successful completion of a written, oral, practical, and medical examination in addition to the training requirements.

Born and raised just outside Winston-Salem, NC, Martin developed a love of aviation from a young age. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill and the University of South Carolina School of Law, Martin decided to follow his first passion and embark on a career as a pilot. He was able to work with his father, a career pilot, through his ratings, moving from Private Pilot to CFI in under a year.

Take a $199 "Discovery Flight" and get your hands on the controls of one of our Piper Aircraft. This is the first step in starting your aviation career. See if flying is something you love by learning from one of our Certified Flight Instructors. We will go over the aircraft controls and safety procedures.

With FAA approved STC 160 The Piper Cherokee is our primary training aircraft. The 160hp single engine 4 place airplane is one of the most stable trainers in the general aviation market. Its low wing design keeps the plane stable in all wind conditions. Cruising at 120 knots (136mph) the Cherokee can take you to any one of the Islands off Newport's coast in 20 minutes.

A: The first step is to schedule a $99 "Discovery Flight" this is a great way to see if aviation is for you and get a great introduction to the aircraft we fly and our flight instructors on staff. A: All of the flight lessons are done at the student's pace, so typically 3 months to 8 months is the estimated completion time for a Private Pilot.
