The logo includes a stylized calligraphic image of the Japanese character Kumo (pronounced koo-moe) which means cloud. I developed it with the help of professor Takemoto and his calligraphy master Fujii Yoshiyasu while at Whitman College. In Oriental Medical theory clouds have a poetic relationship with mankind because we are both a combination of Yin and Yang in constant flux.

In fact many books have been written on the subject. Though often translated as energy, this does not capture the full concept of qi.
