Knoll-Edge Preschool

Parents visiting Knoll-Edge often ask, what is your educational philosophy? People also want to know on which theorists we base our curriculum, our interactions with children, and our style of child guidance. Vgotsky believes, and we agree, that children learn better in collaboration with an adult.

The day consists of soft music, stories, sensory and movement activities, and outside time. We have loving and nurturing teachers who will offer a stimulating environment to foster your baby's growth and development. Toddlers learn from playing in a warm, inviting environment with familiar activities.

Knoll-Edge values outdoor activities. Even as infants, the children are taken out twice daily for walks on the Rail-Trail. Being close to the train station, we chose a fifteen foot train for our playground. The children use the train for climbing and imaginative play. We also have Tricycles and push carts that are used to help develop muscles used for peddling.

We had a vision. A vision that incorporated an outdoor environment that created ample space to explore, run, dig in the sandbox, and use our imaginations on the train. Our vision went further than this however. We simultaneously created an environment that promoted outdoor learning. An environment that took all of our wonderful years of learning in the classroom, outdoors.

Knoll-Edge is so fortunate to have this beautiful walk of discovery right around the corner, that we call The Rail Trail. We consider it our 3rd classroom! No matter what age, infant class - Pre-K, your child will venture on this trail weekly. Scavenger hunts, collecting leaves, and journaling are only a few of the wonderful activities we implement on the Rail Trail.
