Phoenicia Black Bear Campground is a beautiful camp located directly on the Esopus Creek in Phoenicia New York, in the heart of the Catskill Mountains and close to Hunter Mountain, Woodstock, Bellayre Mountain.

For over 40 years the Esopus Creek has provided whitewater for adrenaline seekers to come and experience the intensity of the rapids on the Esopus Creek. Kaaterskill Falls is a two-drop waterfall. The dual cascades total 260 feet, making it one of the Eastern United States' tallest waterfalls.

I recently went to this campground with a group of 12 friends and had a remarkable weekend. Our campsite was right along the beautiful river equipped with a fire pit, picnic table, and plenty of space for our cars and tents. We love this campground! It's in the banks of the Esopus creek which provides fishing, swimming for our dog and scenic place to sit by a campfire at night and watch the moon.

Tent Sites for creek and off creek are $35 per night (Creek Sites 2 night minimum), includes two people. Available for All Occasions, Birthday party, Bachelor parties, Anniversary, Family & Class reunions, Fishing Clubs and more! Large Fire Pit available for group events. Groups of 6 people or more will be charged the group rate.

Print this information because internet maps and other sources may NOT be correct or dependable! New York State Thruway (I-87) to Exit 19 (Kingston). Follow Route 28 West for 25 Miles. Exit Route 28 on right just after the first Phoenicia town designation sign. Drive down the ramp, which leads directly to Bridge Street, go over the bridge.
