Maxwell Funeral Home
We take the risk out of selecting a funeral home. Since 1989, our family owned company has provided a written guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with any of our professional services or facilities, you will not be charged for that item of service. No casket needed for viewing prior to cremation.

We have personally performed over 8000 cremations at our private onsite crematory, each individually and with 100% of recoverable ashes returned. For the ultimate in a personalized ceremony, we have certified celebrants on staff for families who are not a member of a church. Each ceremony is unique and in accordance with your wishes.

About Us
Report
My name is Ernie Heffner. I joined the family business in 1974 and John Katora joined in 1981. My late father, Jim Heffner, was a mentor to both of us instilling values not only about serving but specifically about caring for the deceased and the grieving family and friends in all of York County. Those values continue today with a team of the very best, compassionate and caring staff in the profession.

When a loved one dies at home or in a place that isn't a healthcare facility, you'll need to contact emergency personnel before they can be taken into our care.If your loved one was under medical care, it's a good idea to call their physician as well. If your loved one dies in a healthcare facility, they will notify the proper authorities, including the funeral home you have chosen to care for your loved one if they know that information.
Service Options
Report
Planning a funeral service can be a very difficult process for families who have just lost a loved one. But it's important to provide those who are grieving with a supportive environment in which they can begin to find closure, say goodbye, and come to terms with the loss.

Gathering with friends and family gives everyone the opportunity to connect, share memories, offer words of sympathy, and create a lasting network of comfort and support as they start the journey toward healing.Immediate burial means that your loved one will be buried or entombed without a public service or gathering.

The Fallen Heroes Program is our commitment to honor the men and women who make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty be they Police, Fire Fighters, EMS Persons or those serving in our Military Forces.
Celebrant Services
Report
If you are not a member of a place of worship, there is only one firm you should consider. We are the most experienced celebrant service provider in every community we serve. In fact, most firms do not even offer this option. Our Certified Celebrants would be honored to create a special, one of a kind ceremony to honor your loved one.
