Chihuly, Dale

Born in 1941 in Tacoma, Washington, Dale Chihuly was introduced to glass while studying interior design at the University of Washington. After graduating in 1965, Chihuly enrolled in the first glass program in the country, at the University of Wisconsin. He continued his studies at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where he later established the glass program and taught for over a decade.

Erte, born Romain de Tirtoff, was known as a painter, sculptor, lithographer and set designer. Erte designed costumes for the legendary dancer Anna Pavlova and the performer spy Mata Hari. From 1915 to 1936, Erte designed every cover of Harper's Bazaar. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Erte said he decided to be an artist from the moment he could use colored pencils.

Art was always in focus for Steve Kaufman from early in his life. In 1968 at age 8 Steve Kaufman was sponsored to create paintings that were donated to the Jewish Holocaust Museum of Art in Brooklyn.
