In 1978 Bruce graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1982 Bruce received his Juris Doctorate from Willamette University. In 1982, Bruce moved to Reno, Nevada where he was employed as a deputy district attorney. In 1984 Bruce moved to Las Vegas. Between 1984 and 1989, Bruce practiced law in the fields of criminal defense, insurance defense and personal injury.
