Transforming Youth Mental Health in Colorado
We are a community-facing center established by Children's Hospital Colorado and the University of Colorado School of Medicine to address the youth mental health crisis. Our mission focuses on building a mental health system that better serves children, youth, and families through workforce development, research, and policy influence. We specialize in suicide prevention programs, including the Pathway to Suicide Prevention initiative that trains primary care providers to deliver suicide-safer care. Our Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills training equips educators and professionals with evidence-based tools to help youth manage emotions and build resilience. We collaborate with schools and healthcare systems to implement high-impact interventions, while advancing research to expand effective mental health practices. Our team has trained thousands of youth-serving professionals since 2020, with a particular focus on addressing disparities among LGBTQ+ youth. We provide crisis resources including a 24/7 helpline and text service, while advocating for systemic changes in mental health policy and financing. Our work is grounded in five core functions: engagement and collaboration, workforce development, research and evaluation, implementation support, and policy and finance advocacy.

Services
Suicide Prevention Training
Our suicide prevention programs train primary care providers and school staff to identify at-risk youth and implement care pathways. Through the Pathway to Suicide Prevention initiative, we deliver evidence-based protocols that create suicide-safer environments in healthcare and educational settings while improving access to critical mental health resources.
DBT Skills Programs
We provide Dialectical Behavioral Therapy training for educators and mental health professionals. Our programs teach mindfulness, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills to help youth manage intense emotions. Offerings include live training series, on-demand courses, and school-specific implementations for elementary and high school settings across Colorado.
School-Based Mental Health
Our school-based initiatives train educators to recognize mental health challenges and implement preventive strategies. Programs focus on building trusted adult relationships, integrating mental health education into curricula, and creating supportive environments that reduce suicide risk among middle and high school students statewide.
Crisis Intervention Resources
We operate a 24/7 crisis helpline and text service connecting Colorado youth to trained counselors. Our resources include immediate support options, suicide risk assessment tools, and emergency response protocols designed to provide critical mental health assistance when it's needed most.
Mental Health Research
Our research initiatives evaluate mental health outcomes, implementation processes, and evidence-based practices. We analyze data to inform policy decisions while expanding effective interventions through partnerships with Children's Hospital Colorado and the University of Colorado School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry.
