Botulinum Toxin- one of the most common medical spa procedures. Botulinum toxin works to temporarily paralyze the muscles to decrease fine wrinkles in the face. The toxin acts by binding to a protein at the neuromuscular junction to inactivate the muscle. This typically lasts approximately three to four months as this is the time it takes for the nerve terminal to regenerate.

While the muscle is temporarily paralyzed, the overlying skin is tightened above it, thereby lessening the appearance of wrinkles. This procedure is currently FDA approved for the glabellar (between eyes). As we age, the face undergoes a visible volume loss. Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that are injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines and soften creases, enhance facial contours, and plump the lips.
