The staff here can get you back on your feet and help you put your best foot forward. Even if your dogs are barking when you arrive, they'll be content after treatment by the experts here at 707 North Morgan Street. Dr. W.L. Mauney established this medical practice in 1932 as a one-person office. It was the first podiatry clinic in Cleveland County and the eighth in the state of North Carolina.

Dr. W.L. Mauney's mission to diagnose and treat the foot and ankle problems of the residents of the Foothills is still being fulfilled today with the current staff of two doctors and five staff members. Dr. Jeff Mauney, Dr. W.L. Mauney's son, and Dr. Ron Maskarinec, both board-certified, keep abreast of the evolving treatments and products in the field of podiatry so they can offer their patients top-quality care.

What Is Podiatry
Report
A Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) practices the medical, surgical, and biomechanical treatment of the human foot, ankle, and associated structures. Although we specialize in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of problems affecting the foot and ankle, Doctors of Podiatric Medicine are also highly trained health care providers.
Treatments
Report
This should not be surprising since the human foot and ankle contain more than 26 bones, 33 joints and more than 100 muscles, tendons and ligaments, and feet carry a person an average 70,000 miles during a lifetime. Their patients may not know the difference between the talus and the big toe, but Dr. Mauney and Dr. Maskarinec do, and patients can trust them to treat all diseases of the foot and ankle both medically and surgically!
Products
Report
Diabetic shoes are available through the Medicare Diabetic Shoe Program. This program provides Medicare patients with high-quality shoes with three pairs of protective shoe inserts every year. Medicare pays 80 percent of the cost. More information is available in the sidebar on the right. Mauney and Maskarinec cast custom orthotics and braces for the foot and ankle at the office and have them fabricated at a specialized facility.
