Services
Eye Exams
Our comprehensive eye exams assess vision correction needs, detect eye diseases, and evaluate overall eye health. Using advanced diagnostic tools, our optometrists provide personalized recommendations for eyeglasses, contact lenses, or further treatment. Regular exams help maintain optimal vision and prevent potential complications.
Contact Lenses
We offer customized contact lens solutions for astigmatism, bifocals, daily wear, and specialty lenses like CRT. Our staff provides proper fitting, usage guidance, and follow-up care to ensure comfort and eye health. We carry a wide range of brands and prescriptions.
Eye Glasses
Our optical shop features designer frames, sports goggles, and prescription sunglasses tailored to lifestyle needs. Expert opticians help select frames that complement facial features while ensuring proper fit and durability. We offer lens customization including transitions and progressive options.
Corneal Refractive Therapy
CRT lenses reshape the cornea overnight to correct myopia without surgery. This non-invasive treatment provides clear daytime vision through customized therapeutic lenses. Ideal for active individuals seeking freedom from daily corrective eyewear.

We address urgent issues like foreign objects, chemical exposure, and sudden vision changes. Our team triages emergencies promptly and provides immediate care or specialist referrals. Conditions such as flashes/floaters or pink eye receive priority attention.

The place has gone downhill since Dr. Sawyer left. I have been a patient of Penobscot Eyecare for over 40 years and am now looking elsewhere to find a professional eyecare provider. There are plenty of eyecare providers in the Bangor area. I would recommend trying one of the others.

I went first time to receive an eye exam and to receive aid with allergy eye care. The only thing done right was the allergy drops prescribed. The horrific day after am appointment will be an emotional and financial stress. I was sent to er to get MRI after finding "swollen optic nerve" and just so you all know the er thought it was a joke to be sent to the er for an mri....they gave me bloodwork and a ct. Eyeball fine. They discharge me and send me to Northern light Optometrist for another exam and scan. I'm fine. No tumors. No swollen optoc nerve. My entire day was was worry and stress about

I've been a patient here for about 20 years - 2 times a year for most of that time. The first sign of trouble was their unwillingness to allow me to speak to my doctor last summer about upcoming surgery - they couldn't spare 3 minutes to speak with me. During Covid my vision became worse - I called for an appointment on July 13- the first opening was in late October - over 100 days in the future. I called another Bangor eye care ... nine days. Next week they can see me. I'm a loyal customer but I need to be treated better than Penobscot Eye Care treated me.

This place is questionable at best. They for sure need customer service training. Rude, impolite and if you ask to speak to a manager they will hang up on you. Save yourself time and trouble. Horrible customer service!
