Upholstery is the work of providing furniture, especially seats, with padding, springs, webbing, and fabric or leather covers. The word upholstery comes from the Middle English word upholder, which referred to a tradesman who held up his goods. The term is equally applicable to domestic, automobile, airplane and boat furniture.
A person who works with upholstery is called an upholsterer; an apprentice upholsterer is sometimes called an outsider or trimmer. Traditional upholstery uses materials like coil springs (post-1850), animal hair (horse, hog & cow), coir, straw and hay, Hessians, linen scrims, wadding, etc., and is done by hand, building each layer up.

I wanted to take a few minutes to thank Emilio for the outstanding job on refabricating the interior upholstery for my 1961 Buick Lesabre convertible to original condition. Better the factory original. Perfect show quality condition with the heat pressed pleats. He was willing to take on this large project even though I was 2800 miles away. He kept me up to date on the process. I highly recommend his services to all. Thanks again!

Job was not done because I questioned what I thought was a difference in stated price. I thought we had this resolved by phone the night before my appointment. But, when I showed up the following morning, my deposit was returned and my job was not done. No matter what the job or who the business, always get a written quote (verbal isn't enough). I didn't do that, and that's on me.

You guys were a pleasure to work with. They got my seats looking as close to original, but BETTER. It's sitting waiting patiently to go in the car and I just hope I can do the work on my car to match the level of quality that the interior is. Can't wait to finish this project so I can bring you more interiors to do for my other projects in the future.

Texas Auto Upholstery made custom seats for my camper van. The seats also transform into a bed for the kids. Excellent craftsmanship. Turn around time was outstanding as well. They have outstanding customer service as well and guided me through the build process. This is a COVID aware business as well. Well done

I was recently in need of an upholsterer for my classic car, a 1968 Camaro so I searched high and low and Texas Auto Upholstery came highly recommended by 4 other fellow Hot Rodders know. I couldn't be happier with what they have done to my classic Camaro so far. Thank you guys for the quality workmanship and attention to detail, even though we are still waiting on some parts I'm looking forward to working with you again.

Texas Auto Upholstery is a center of excellence for any type of fabric upholstery work. Amelio and his Uncle are absolutely the best in the business. We had four chairs upholstered with an elegant special fabric to match the living room furniture. Their work was perfect and the cost was very reasonable. I can highly recommend this company without reservation.

I'm guilty of generally only writing reviews when I'm unhappy. I know this isn't right, but I just tend to rarely write a review when I'm happy with a business. The service I received from Texas Auto Upholstery was so good though, that I felt compelled to. I am really pleased with the upholstery work I received from Emilio and Daniel. They have the ability to make upholstery look new, or even better than new. They did a couch for me, and I was just amazed at how good it looked, and look at the chair they did for me. I had Texas Upholstery re upholster my Gratz Pilates Reformer and they did a fantastic job! I really appreciate there great quality in their work. Not only that, they came to my house to also look at how the equipment worked so that they can do the job exactly how it needed to be. I also had them look at one of my recliner chairs and they were able to match my colors perfectly. I look forward to having them do that one day too! I highly recommend them! Not only that they really love what they do and are wonderful people wanting to do a great job and well done!
