What is the Suzuki Method
Report
Yes, Suzuki students learn to be great music readers! Suzuki is often called the "mother tongue method, " because music is taught the same way a child learns their native language. Just as a child learns to speak before they learn to read, a Suzuki music student learns basic technique and music ability before learning to read music.
Faculty & Programs
Report
Stephen grew up taking Suzuki cello lessons at the well-known Preucil School of Music (Iowa City), where he studied with Dr. Laura Shaw. While a student at the Preucil School, he toured China with the well-known top Preucil orchestra. While serving as a Paramedic with Adams County EMS, he enjoys the chance to stay involved with music by teaching cello lessons and sharing his love of music with students.
Curriculum
Report
The Suzuki approach, based on the Mother Tongue Method, differs from traditional methods of teaching instrumental music. Because the students typically begin instruction at a very early age, parent participation is essential. Listening, Repetition, and repertoire review are also key parts of the Suzuki talent education method.
