This is the first time my wife and I went through the building process of a new home. I have to admit, it was very overwhelming.... the selections, the decisions, the selection. Oh, did I mention the decisions?

We met with Don and a handful of builders in the Triad over the course of a year. We were building our forever home on family land and picking just anyone wouldn't do. Don is not only professional but extremely personable. When walking through his homes, and some of his competitors, his were always a detail above the rest. It wasn't until we started to build did we understand just how much detail that was. From foundation, framing, plumbing, and more there is absolute highest workmanship in every aspect of our home. We would highly recommend Don Mill Builders to build your quality, custom built home. We had a great experience with Don. He was very easy to work with and very knowledgable in his profession. We were impressed with the level of quality in our home and the subs that he uses. At one point during the building process something was done that was not how we intended. Don had the sub back out in less than 24 hours to address the issue. Whenever we wanted to add a little something extra or make a slight adjustment it was never a problem and what he charged was very reasonable. The whole process went

If I could give Don zero stars I would. I had absolutely the worst building experience possible. Don charge me over $5000 in charge orders that were never signed or give in advance. He threatened to quit multiple times when held accountable for poor work. He still refuses to fix multiple issues. The craftsmanship is subpar and he refuses to fix issues. I am still waiting for him to fix the floor in my bathroom where the floor was transitioned under the wrong side of the door. See photo attached. I also have roof drainage issues currently where water is staining my stone. Don has absolutely no honor

When we started researching home builders to build our retirement home, the name Don Mills kept surfacing as the quality home builder in the area, and we soon realized Don was the builder of choice for our home. Building from out of state has it challenges, but once the process began we quickly realized how fortunate we were to have chosen Don. From the initial design stage to acceptance, Don, Annette, and the rest of the team were amazingly flexible and always there answering our questions, which as you can imagine were many. My wife Alice and I moved to Greensboro 10 years ago into a new house just completed by Don Mills. It was the first house of almost 300 that we researched that got a WOW! when we walked into the front door. Then it got a second WOW! when we walked into the kitchen. After one year in the house, we had no punch list for Don to fix. After 10 years, the house still looks brand new. We like Dons and Annettes houses so much that we go every year to their Parade of Homes entries to see the latest WOW in home building.
