Routine Eye Care
Report
Recognizing that eyes change over time, our office understands what it means to maintain your eyes. Growing up we know that many people only went to the eye doctor if there was a dramatic change or if they were experiencing problems with their vision.

However, many eye diseases and problems can be prevented with annual eye exams - it is important to visit a professional yearly because many common eye diseases and have very few or do not show any warning signs until they have caused damage.
Cataracts
Report
The clouding of the normally clear eye lens can be likened to looking through a fogged up window. What once appeared white becomes yellowed. Poor night vision, double vision and even sensitivity to light are cataract symptoms too. By age 80, more than half of Americans either have a cataract or have had cataract surgery, according to the National Eye Institute, the governmental authority dedicated to research human visual diseases and disorders.
Glaucoma
Report
This results in lost vision starting at the periphery (outside) which spreads to the central vision. More than 2.2 million Americans have been diagnosed with glaucoma, and approximately 2 million Americans are undiagnosed. The most common type of glaucoma in older patients is open-angle. It's very important to have annual eye exams, because there are not any symptoms during the early stages of glaucoma.
