About Us
Report
In 2001, Futuro Solido's parent company, Casa Colorado, was founded by Ferney Colorado and Melissa Burkhart in response to the increasing demand for diverse and creative translation and interpretation services. As they themselves represented both cultures, Ferney and Melissa developed a unique ability to connect companies with Spanish speakers-either employees or prospective clients.
HR Solutions
Report
A benefits employee had their corporate benefits booklet translated. It came back in Spanish stating that qualified benefits included an employee's spouse children and "Concubine" were covered. Fabulous news for some employees, but not for the HR specialist who got a number of calls from the insurance carrier.
Translation
Report
Translation is harder than it looks, and speaking two languages does NOT mean you can translate---it means you can speak two languages. You can be a knowledgeable and competent professional, but not have perfect writing skills, no? Even if your writing is pretty solid, do you need someone to proofread for you?
10 Translation Tips

Does she hold a university degree from a Spanish-speaking country in a language-related field? If not, look elsewhere. If so, have an outside party evaluate her writing skills before asking her to translate your employee handbook.
Benefits
Report
How difficult is to communicate effectively about employee benefits in English? Can you just hand employees a booklet (even a well-thought out, carefully written booklet with colorful illustrations and graphs) and expect them to understand their benefits, make decisions in their own best interest, and use the plans they have elected to their best advantage?
