No. State laws in Illinois have recently changed, so you can see your physical therapist without a prescription. Medicare cases still need physician prescriptions, however. The first session lasts about an hour for the evaluation. Follow up visits take between 45 - 60 minutes. The duration of your treatments will depend on your needs, the doctor's recommendations, and hands-on time with the physical therapist.
