Specialty Tutoring is a nonprofit agency that has been helping children overcome learning difficulties since 1999. We strive to provide the very best specialized and affordable services available. Our learning specialists understand each child's unique challenges, and they are trained to recognize and address the underlying reasons for these struggles.
Using programs proven to be effective, we seek to turn a child's frustration into a triumphant smile. Our goal is to enhance a child's ability and motivation to learn. We do this through one-on-one, interactive, and personalized tutoring. Our most important product is the child's renewed belief in his or her ability to succeed.

Our Story
Report
In 1998, Karen Stockstill and Jeanne Widdicombe recognized a growing need for professional help for children who were struggling with learning. Motivated by a strong desire to provide affordable one-on-one services to these children, they combined their education, enthusiasm, and experience.
The two co-founders of Specialty Tutoring researched the importance of the cognitive skills underlying the learning process, as well as the types of learning difficulties that can cause academic struggles. They carefully selected the specialized and research-based programs and quality assessments that would become the foundation for an effective and professional tutoring service.

What Makes Us Special
Report
We are dedicated to improving the lives of children, and our strength is doing it one child at a time. At Specialty Tutoring, the hour belongs to your child, who will always work one-on-one with the same learning specialist. This promotes continuity, establishes rapport, and encourages maximum effort from your child.
Getting Started
Report
At Specialty Tutoring, your child's entire experience is individualized based on his or her specific needs, starting with the initial evaluation. Your child will meet one-on-one with a test administrator to determine strengths and weaknesses in both the targeted curriculum areas of your choice and the underlying cognitive learning skills associated with those curriculum areas.
