Divorce & Legal Separation

California is a "no fault" state. This means neither party has to prove misconduct of the other to petition for a divorce. Instead, a divorce may be granted based on "irreconcilable differences." At the request of either party, the court will make orders related to the division of community assets and debts, spousal support, child support, and custody and visitation.
