Natalie had his first son, Bernard Bertagna, who followed in his fathers' footsteps and acquired a natural green thumb and a passion for farming. Lit'l Ben started volunteering to work in the almond orchards of neighboring farmers at the early age of twelve. By the time we was seventeen years old he had earned and saved enough money to buy his first twenty acres of planted almond trees.

Here at Maisie Janes we care a lot about bees, because we need bees to grow almonds! Bee hives are brought to the orchards during bloom to assist with pollination since almonds are not self-pollinating. WE are.more than ever because they are in danger! These complex and amazing invertebrates need our attention.
Dry Roasting

At Maisie Jane's, all of our roasted nut products are Dry Roasted without the use of additional oils. We use barrel style fire-roasters to develop amazing flavor and create light, crunchy and uniquely tasty California almonds and almond products. Dry Roasting vs Oil - Most commercially available value-added nuts are processed using various types of vegetable oils (canola, safflower, sunflower, etc).

If you are concerned about choosing non-GMO foods, you have come to the right place. Maisie Jane's almonds are cultivated using traditional agricultural techniques and grown without the use of genetic engineering or genetic manipulation. Beyond our own growing, the secondary ingredients that Maisie Jane's sources and buys from other growers do not contain gene-spliced bio-engineered organisms and are free of genetically modified DNA.
