Nica Aquino b. She holds a BFA in Photography from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, OR and an MA in Visual Culture from the School of Art at Manchester Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom. Her work has been exhibited internationally in Manchester, United Kingdom; Belgrade, Serbia; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and nationally in Portland, OR; Los Angeles, CA; San Antonio, TX.

Reel Artists’ Video Series

We wanted to give our friends an opportunity to dive deeper with some of our exhibits by getting to know these wonderful artists. Thus, a few years ago our good friend Marisol Medina Cadena initiated an Avenue 50 Studio video series for us called "Reel Artists", and we most recently launched a second series entitled, "Meet the Artist."

La Palabra Poetry

This program is made possible in part by a grant from the City of Los Angeles, Department of Cultural Affairs. La Palabra, a program of the Avenue 50 Studio, is now in its twentieth year and has been taking place since 2001. On the Fourth Sunday of every month from 2- 4pm, La Palabra invites the community to come out and read their poetry through an open mic series, followed by a featured poet and closing with a Q & A.
