Siskiyou County is rich in both history and natural beauty. Yreka is seat of Siskiyou County, it is the largest full service community along I-5. Yreka was born in March of 1851, when a mule train packer named Abraham Thompson discovered gold on the flats near a ravine called Black Gulch.
