In the late 19th or early 20th century the building was updated for use as a warehouse by the massive California-based wood supplier The West-Side Lumber Company. Midtown Lumber first opened its doors in 1962 and served many of the changing neighborhood's bohemians, artists, and photographers.
Many of the artists were eventually priced out of the neighborhood and replaced by a flock of small businesses, often computer shops who came to Midtown Lumber for materials to build the shelving and desks needed to display their latest tech.In the early 2000's Chelsea began experiencing a resurgence as a high-end residential neighborhood and a center for commercial enterprise.

Our Lumber Yard in Jersey City is stocked with building materials and lumber available for bulk orders and same-day delivery. Our warehouse is located in an Urban Enterprise Zone! Call us to schedule a pick up from our warehouse in Jersey City, or get it delivered to your job site in New Jersey and pay a reduced rate of only 3.5% sales tax!

The actual dimensions of the lumber are listed in ( ) check out this blog post and chart for more details. It is known for it's even layers and voidless core. Usually, clients like the exposed ply look of Baltic Birch and choose not to edge tape it. More info on Baltic Birch Ply here. Melamine is also known as White Composite Board and is made out of compressed chips of wood with a white melamine coating on either side.

1. Quantity of each cut needed. 2. Thickness & type of wood. 3. Dimensions (we cut precisely to within 1/16 of an inch - all measurements must be in inches and fractions). 4. Please specify if you have any grain direction preference. For example: (2) pieces of 1" Canadian Birch 18" x 18" and (3) pieces of 1/2" Canadian Birch 36" x 42".

Be sure to include the type of material and exact measurements for your custom cut lumber pieces. For example: (2) pieces of 1" Canadian Birch 18" x 18" and (3) pieces of 1/2" Canadian Birch 36" x 42". Once your order is confirmed, we will add it to the cutting cue. Lead times vary, but we will always give you a timeline for your order and call you as soon as it is ready for pick up.
